Veeerry early start to get to RTE yesterday to appear on the Pat Kenny radio show with the talented young singer songwriter from Shannonbridge, Louise Killeen. It really makes me appreciate how much time people have to spend sitting in their cars commuting to work in Dublin every day, how early does rush hour(s) start these days, it’s no life, not for any money.

Anyway, it all went very well apart from Louise’s car getting broken into the previous night in Dublin, funny thing is they didn’t steal her golf clubs!Image

Met my friend Ronan Collins who was prepping his midday show Imageand also the legend Larry Gogan in the hallways.Image

Pat Kenny was a true gent as always and made us feel very welcome despite having a really busy schedule and reporting on the dreadful tragedy in Oklahoma, thank you Pat.Image

Louise will be appearing in the Mercantile bar on Dame street this friday 24th. with her band including yours truly on various basses, should be a great night, if the response to the last one is anything to go by, so hopefully we might see some of you there.Image

Time to do the hoovering…over and out!

Had the pleasure of hearing the great Steve Hackett from Genesis and his band in Vicar street in Dublin tonight.

It was a concert of great Genesis classics up to the point where he left the band to pursue a solo career.

The band was fantastic and the concert was only marred by the fact that the bar was open and many of the fans were unable to stay in their seats and insisted on pushing past everybody with their dripping plastic pints of beer, thereby interrupting our view of the stage on many occasions during the performance.

Nevertheless, Mr. Hackett was awesome and I have never heard so many people sing their way through a whole gig like that before.

I also had the pleasure of meeting him before the performance and he is a true gentleman.

The one that got away

Just found these videos of a project I was involved with some time ago that never happened!
A shame really, we spent a lot of time recording this trio album of classic songs in a swing style (without drums) which was never released, did this video shoot, one gig and it then it all somehow fizzled out………………………..:-(

Done and dusted

Finished all the tracks for this Daniel O’Donnell session, it’s sounding great.

I would just like to pay tribute to the musicians and crew involved, it was a pleasure.

L – R: Ray Lynam (guitar), Jason Duffy (drums), Daniel O’Donnell (vocals), John Ryan (producer), Steve Milne (piano) & I’m on the right (bass). Also (not in the photo) Des Moore (guitar) and Daire Winston (engineer) of Beechpark studios.

Look forward to the next one 🙂

Mr. O’Donnell and friends

In the studio again with Daniel O’Donnell and guess what? the sun is shining again and us looking out!
Doing some really classic country tracks today, mostly on double bass, so nice to record live with everyone going for the performance , no cheating here, this is real!
