The way it’s supposed to be

Ah yes, happy chappies all after recording Dominic Kirwan’s new album live together in the studio the way it should be done with real people playing together and bouncing ideas off each other.
Wouldn’t it be great if it was always like this. 🙂

To hell with the groove, play more solos!

My favourite band announcement was a good few years ago whilst playing at a dance in a (now closed) well known dancehall in Manchester.
At the end of the evening, after quickstepping, waltzing and foxtrot ting our little hearts out for three hours ,the owner came on stage and said how great it was to hear such a great singer singing the lovely Irish songs reminding them of how lovely Ireland was….and how about the amazing drummer, the great solos, the solos and let’s hear it for the lead man (that would be the lead guitar player)…..the mighty solos, wasn’t he amazing at the solos….there followed a moment of silence…… Followed by……..Oh, and the other lads as well!
So the moral of the story is, if you are the Bass player, or rhythm gtr player, and you want to be noticed…… “TO HELL WITH THE GROOVE, PLAY SOLOS”.

The train to Sligo

Sitting on the train to Sligo going from Rainshine to Sunshine, I thought of this beautiful song written by Thom Moore.

the Scholar

The train to Sligo moves too slow
As it takes her from the school below
She wants to be there faster than
The train to Sligo ever can
She wonders where the passing goes
Creeping by her window; my oh my
Its getting further than it ever has before.

Eyes wide as silver dollars
Can’t think why but she’s a scholar
Oh Lord, it takes so long to learn
Whats right from what is wrong
School books and fancy collars
Can’t think why but she’s a scholar
Hold on, her daddy tells her
Learn to sing your song

The train from Sligo moves to Fast
Holidays are gone at last
Winter days are here again
Please promise me you’ll write to me then
It’s too long weeks till I get home
I can’t help feeling so alone
If someone doesn’t right to me soon
I’ll simply fade away

Double Wow!!!

Found this on you tube. Heroes all givin’ it socks in Japan on Steely Dan’s “Bodhisattva”.

I had forgotten just how good John Entwhistle and Jeff “Skunk” Baxter are. As for Simon Phillips….

This is a preview of the music for the story of “Layliana”

This is a preview of the music for the story of “Layliana”, the first in a series of Fairytales  (Books with Graphic audio and Illustrations)  by James & Susan Blennerhassett & Vitya Malirsh which will be published later this year.

I will be starting a Fundit campaign shortly to help us get the first two books published. Please keep an eye out for this project and I would appreciate your help in this labour of love.
