Gentlemen, bring forth thy four stringed upright machines and play!

Bumped into “Smithy”, who I haven’t seen in ages, the other day. When I was starting out on Bass, Smithy was an inspiration to me. He was playing in band called “Spud” and I used to follow them around and watch and listen to him playing fantastic stuff on his red Fender P Bass. I’m sure I was a nuisance but he was and is a complete gentleman and very generous with his time to an aspiring young Bassist.

I am a session bassist and contemporary composer based in Ireland, most of my studio work these days is done from my own place via Dropbox etc. I play Double bass and Bass guitar and most recently a derivative of the Chapman Stick, the NS Stick and several other instruments when I must :-) I have two solo instrumental albums on release called "End of a longer day" and "A small shadow" and I am currently writing and recording a series of Pictorial Audio projects comprising Text, Audio & Illustrations in collaboration with my sister Susan & her husband Vitya, inspired by special people, the unseen little folk, and other fantastic creatures that inhabit the woods, streams and lakes on this island .

  1. You know what…. That’s brilliant….staying in touch with the person that inspired you…..we all have inspirations and we all inspire too, even when we don’t know we did!! The joy of music and life!
